Nine lines found written in St. Teresa of Ávila’s breviary after her death. The shortest useful answer in the tradition to being afraid.
Let nothing trouble you,
let nothing frighten you.
All things are passing away;
God never changes.
Patience obtains all things.
Whoever has God lacks nothing;
God alone suffices.
