End-to-End Encrypted, Then Gone
A video or audio session is a direct connection between the two of you — encrypted end to end, carried by a provider that holds no key to it, and never recorded. That is possible because a session is between exactly two people; group calls have to pass through a server that can read them, which is why we do not offer them. A text session travels the same way: messages go directly between your two devices, encrypted end to end, and never reach GraceBook.
Every Mentor Signs the Mentor Agreement
Before anyone is listed they undertake, in their own name, to teach in accordance with Scripture, Tradition and the Magisterium, to hold whatever permission their state of life requires, to work within their competence, and to serve the good of the person in front of them. A person reads every application. We do not verify these claims and do not claim to.
No Recordings, No Surveillance
Sessions are never recorded. We do not monitor or review session content. Your conversations are sacred.
Taken Down When Permission Ends
If a bishop, superior or pastor tells us a mentor no longer has their permission, staff suspend that mentor, which takes them out of the directory and cancels their sessions. A mentor who breaks the agreement can be removed permanently and reported to their own authority.

Do I need to be a practicing Catholic?
No. GraceBook is for anyone seeking spiritual guidance in the Catholic tradition — whether you attend Mass daily, are returning after years away, or are simply curious about the faith.
Is this a replacement for going to church?
Never. GraceBook complements parish life — it does not replace it. Our mentors will always encourage you toward the sacraments and active participation in your local community.
Can I go to confession online?
No. The sacrament of Reconciliation requires physical presence (Canon 960). GraceBook offers confession preparation tools to help you examine your conscience, but always directs you to in-person Confession at your local parish.
How do I know the mentors are trustworthy?
Be careful how much weight you put on us. Every mentor signs the Mentor Agreement before they appear — undertaking in their own name to teach in accordance with Scripture, Tradition and the Magisterium, to hold whatever permission their state of life requires, and to work within their competence — and a person reads every application before it is published. But GraceBook does not verify those claims: no background checks, no confirmation of ordination or faculties, no safeguarding checks. If a mentor breaks that agreement they can be removed permanently and reported to their bishop, religious superior or pastor. You can read the whole agreement, and you should.
What if I don't connect with my mentor?
That's okay — spiritual fit matters. You can switch mentors at any time, no questions asked. Browse the directory and find someone whose background and approach resonate with you.
How much does it cost?
GraceBook is committed to serving all seekers regardless of ability to pay. No one is turned away. At the end of a session, you may offer your mentor a voluntary gift — but it is never required.
Is my conversation private?
Yes. A video or audio session is a direct connection between you and your mentor, encrypted end to end — the company that carries it holds no key to it, and nothing is ever recorded. That works because a session is between the two of you and nobody else: a call with three or more people has to be routed through a server that decrypts it along the way, so we do not offer one. A text session works the same way: messages go directly between your two devices, encrypted end to end, and never reach GraceBook; neither of you can download them. We never ask what you want to discuss — booking asks when, not what about. And we host no mentor notes: whatever your mentor keeps is theirs, held outside GraceBook, where we could not read it or be made to hand it over.
What technology do I need?
A device with a web browser and an internet connection. GraceBook works on phones, tablets, and computers. No downloads required. Camera and microphone are helpful but optional — you can participate with chat alone.
