Not open at the moment
GraceBook currently lists individual mentors, each of whom signs the Mentor Agreement in their own name. Dioceses, orders and parishes cannot yet be listed or review their own mentors. What follows describes how it works when it is open.
If you would like it opened, please write to us — it is built, and knowing somebody wants it is what decides when.
You approve your own mentors
Mentor applications naming your organization come to you rather than to GraceBook staff. You approve or decline, and your decision is final.
Delegate approval authority
Add the officials who actually do the work. Any delegates you add can review applications and bring in colleagues too, so nothing waits on one person being at their desk.
Gifts can come to you, not the individual
Giving is not open on GraceBook yet. When it opens, a mentor will be able to ask that gifts go to your organization’s account rather than their own — the right arrangement for anyone under a vow of poverty.
How an organization gets listed
- You confirm your email address. That is all we ask for to begin. It saves your answers as you go, so you can stop and come back with the link we send you.
- You fill in the application. The organization, who else should be able to administer it, and anything you would like to attach. You set up your own account at the end, because whoever applies becomes the organization's first administrator.
- A site administrator reads it. Nothing is approved automatically. We confirm the organization is real and that you hold the role you say you do, and we may call the number published on your own website. Expect a few days.
- You appear in the list mentors choose from. Anyone applying can now name your organization, which sends their application to you rather than to us. This is also when the colleagues you named are invited — not before, so nothing goes out in your organization's name until it is really yours.
- You approve them, or you do not. Applying is a request, not a membership — nobody is listed as one of yours until one of your people approves them. That approval is the record that they were vouched for, so we ask you for no supporting document.
We check because your approval carries real weight here. Once you are listed, your word alone is what puts a mentor in front of people looking for spiritual help — so a diocese that could be registered by anyone in a few clicks would be worth nothing to be approved by.
