Donation Refund Policy
Effective October 21, 2026
This policy covers donations to GraceBook only
A donation made on our donate page goes to GraceBook, the nonprofit that runs this site, to support its work. It does not go to any mentor. Donations are final, except a mistake you tell us about within 30 days, as described below. A gift to an individual mentor is not a donation to GraceBook, and GraceBook cannot refund it: ask the mentor.
Donations are final
A donation to GraceBook is a voluntary gift to a nonprofit, and once made it is final. We do not refund a donation because you have changed your mind, because your circumstances have changed, or because you disagree with something on the site.
The one exception: a mistake, within 30 days
We will refund a donation in full if it was made by mistake and you tell us within 30 days of the date it was made. For example:
- you entered the wrong amount, such as $500 instead of $50;
- you were charged twice for the same donation;
- you donated by accident;
- your card was used to donate without your permission.
To ask, email contact@thegracebook.com from the address you gave when you donated, with the date and the amount. We do not need a reason beyond the mistake itself. If only part of a donation was a mistake, such as a wrong amount, we can refund the difference instead of the whole, if you prefer.
After 30 days, a donation is final in every case.
Refunds we make ourselves
We may also refund a donation on our own initiative, for example when the bank that issued the card tells our payment processor the payment may be fraudulent. If that happens to a genuine donation of yours, we are sorry for the trouble, and you are welcome to give again.
How a refund is paid
- Refunds are made through our payment processor, Stripe, to the card that paid, and to nowhere else. We cannot refund to a different card, a bank account, a check or any other method.
- You will receive an email from Stripe confirming the refund. It usually appears on your statement within 5 to 10 business days, depending on your bank.
- We will never ask you to send money back, or to pay anything to receive a refund. Anyone who does is not GraceBook.
Refunds and your taxes
A donation that is refunded is no longer a charitable contribution. Do not use its written acknowledgment for tax purposes. If part of a donation is refunded, only the part we kept is a contribution.
Gifts to mentors are not covered
A gift to an individual mentor is paid directly to that mentor, not to GraceBook. GraceBook never receives or holds it, and cannot refund it. If you want a gift to a mentor refunded, you must ask the mentor who received it; whether to refund it is their decision. This policy does not apply to gifts to mentors in any way.
